Category: Main Dish

Description: Chinese Mapo Tofu is a mouthwatering meal that mixes silken tofu with a hot and flavorful minced meat sauce, allowing you to experience the robust and spicy flavors of Sichuan cuisine. This meal, which comes from the center of China, has the ideal combination of flavors and textures, making your tongue dance with a symphony of sensations.

Preparation Mode:

Heat vegetable oil in a wok over medium heat. Add minced garlic and ginger, sauté until fragrant. Add ground pork, cook until browned.

Stir in doubanjiang and chili bean paste, cooking for another 2 minutes. Pour in chicken broth, soy sauce, sugar, and ground Sichuan peppercorns. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

Gently slide in the tofu cubes, being careful not to break them. Let it simmer for 10-15 minutes, allowing the tofu to absorb the flavors of the sauce. Stir in sliced green onions and sesame oil.

Serve the Mapo Tofu over steamed white rice. Adjust the level of spiciness by controlling the amount of chili bean paste and doubanjiang. Sichuan peppercorns add a unique numbing sensation; adjust the quantity based on your preference.

For a vegetarian version, replace the ground pork with finely chopped mushrooms or textured vegetable protein. Now you're ready to savor the bold and enticing flavors of Chinese Mapo Tofu in the comfort of your own kitchen!
